What is a Ceramic Coating

In simple terms, a ceramic coating acts as an ultra-thin, highly durable layer of protection over your vehicle’s paint and clear coat. Because both are naturally porous, the liquid coating bonds at a molecular level, creating a semi-permanent, hydrophobic shield. This protective layer makes it much easier for water, mud, and dirt to slide off the surface, helping to prevent buildup and staining.

Ceramic coatings are designed to guard your vehicle against environmental contaminants, UV damage, and oxidation. They also add a degree of resistance to light scratches. However, they are not meant to defend against heavier impacts such as rock chips, door dings, scuffs, or severe weather damage like hail. For maximum protection against those, paint protection film (PPF) is the recommended solution.

Simply ceramic coatings are the highest grade of protection & gloss enhancement for your vehicle.

Unlike traditional waxes & sealants which are just films that sit on the surface of a vehicle, a ceramic coating is a liquid resin-based product that bonds to the surface when applied to your vehicle, by a professional such as Tint & Protect WPG. Ceramic Coating will protect your vehicle from harsh elements. It also has the added benefit of making your car insanely glossy and easier to clean!

Facts you should know about Ceramic Coating in Winnipeg MB

  • Improper wash methods can increase the likelihood of creating swirls and scratches, waxes can improve the look for a short time but ultimately don't provide protection and are labour intensive to install.

  • Paint correction is highly recommended before the installation of a ceramic coating, this removes imperfections and blemishes your vehicle could have from the factory, gotten during transport or while driving. Paint correction provides a clean, glossy and freshly levelled surface for the coating to bond to.

  • Once your ceramic coating has been installed, you are only required to make ONE up-keep visit per year to your installer, this allows us to ensure you are receiving the maximum performance from your ceramic coating.

  • Ceramic coatings will NOT stop scratches, the reason you often hear claims like "Reduces Swirls/Scratches" is because when you wash the vehicle, you don't have to touch it as frequently or with as much pressure, reducing the likelihood of wash marks, marring, etc

  • Your vehicle can often suffer from the outdoor elements. Things like road salt, hard water, bird bombs, tar, rail dust, and iron deposits are all things that can ruin the paint on your vehicle, ceramic coatings offer a sacrificial layer to absorb the brunt of those elements.

  • Ceramic coating life expectancies are based on perfect conditions and how you maintain your vehicle, someone that washes their car once a month but lives in Florida may see better performance from a coating than someone who washes once a week but has to endure 6 months a year of Winnipeg winter, salt and road grime.

Wheel Ceramic Coating.

Wheel Ceramic Coating is a protective treatment applied to the wheels of a vehicle to create a durable, hydrophobic barrier that shields against dirt, brake dust, road grime, and other contaminants. This coating is made from a liquid polymer that chemically bonds with the wheel’s surface, forming a strong, long-lasting protective layer.

Benefits of Wheel Ceramic Coating:

Enhanced Protection: The coating provides a robust shield against environmental damage such as brake dust, road salt, and other contaminants, which can be corrosive and lead to deterioration or staining of the wheel’s finish.

Easier Cleaning: Thanks to its hydrophobic properties, a ceramic coating repels water, making it easier to wash off dirt and grime. Contaminants are less likely to adhere to the surface, allowing for quicker and less frequent cleaning.

Improved Appearance: By filling in microscopic imperfections, the coating enhances the wheel's shine, making them look cleaner and more polished for longer periods.

Durability: Unlike traditional waxes or sealants that wear off quickly, ceramic coatings are highly durable, often lasting several months to years, depending on driving conditions and maintenance.

Resistant to High Temperatures: Wheels are subject to high temperatures due to braking. Ceramic coatings are designed to withstand these conditions, maintaining their protective properties without breaking down.

Installing ceramic coating on wheels not only preserves their aesthetic appeal but also reduces maintenance efforts and prolongs the lifespan of the wheel's finish, making it a worthwhile investment for vehicle owners.
